Why do I need to modernise my elevator?
PERSONAL SAFETY: This is the main reason why old, outdated elevators need to be replaced or modernised. In the Czech Republic, more than half of the elevators, especially in apartment buildings, are still in poor condition. Unfortunately, the accident statistics on these units are alarming.
In some cases accidents include loss of life. The key safety hazards on old elevators include: the absence of cabin doors, inaccurate stopping of the elevator at station level and then the fatigue of materials in the risk areas.
What's the risk if I do not modernise the elevator in time?
PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY: Each owner or operator of an elevator is fully responsible for the state of the equipment in operation and for maintaining the elevator in accordance with the applicable technical standards and in accordance with the applicable legislation. In the event of any injury, damage to health or property, the operator of a non-compliant elevator is liable to prosecution. This is even if the elevator is properly serviced and all regular inspections and professional tests of the elevator are carried out.
It is entirely up to the owners and operators of such equipment whether they decide to ensure safe condition of operation. A contracted professional service company is not authorized to shut down your elevator, but only to point out any deficiencies in your equipment.
